Resource 03 / Roll setup

Define how every label leaves the roll.

Roll direction is part of the applicator setup. Confirm the leading edge, wound-in or wound-out construction, core and roll limits with the person responsible for labeling.

Which edge should lead?

Use the printed artwork as the reference. Then state whether the labels are wound with the print facing outside or inside the roll.

ABC↑

Top edge first

The top of the artwork leads as the web unwinds.

ABC↓

Bottom edge first

The bottom of the artwork leads as the web unwinds.

ABC←

Left edge first

The left side of the artwork leads as the web unwinds.

ABC→

Right edge first

The right side of the artwork leads as the web unwinds.

Do not select from a product photo alone. A short applicator video, current roll specification, equipment drawing or confirmation from the line operator is more reliable.

Roll construction

Direction is only one part of the setup.

Winding
Print outside or print insideConfirm which side of the wound roll carries the printed face.
Core
Inside diameter and materialProvide the required measurement in millimeters or inches and any core material constraint.
Roll limit
Maximum outer diameter or labels per rollMatch the applicator, handling preference and packing plan.
Web
Labels across, gap and edge positionShare machine constraints where multiple labels across or a fixed web width is required.
Splice
Acceptance and identificationState any restrictions or marking requirements that affect the application line.
Packing
Roll identification and carton groupingDefine how SKUs, batches and quantities should be separated and labeled.

Best evidence

Send the current roll or applicator information.

A physical sample, roll specification, equipment drawing or short video can resolve orientation and machine constraints faster than a written guess. Vansenor will confirm the final construction before production release.
