Partial-Adhesive & Clean-Release Labels

Partial-adhesive and removable constructions can support pull tabs, package seals, and areas that should remain free of adhesive. The actual package coating and storage conditions must be considered.

Define the adhesive zones and removal behavior

Share a package sample or drawing showing where the label should hold, lift, and release. Clean removal cannot be assumed without checking the surface and intended dwell time.

Specification guide

Partial-adhesive labels and clean-release package seals

Partial-adhesive labels place adhesive in selected zones, leaving other areas free for a pull tab or opening feature. Clean-release labels use a construction intended for a specified removal behavior.

Materials & adhesive
Clear film, white film and paper can be considered with zoned adhesive or removable adhesive. Clean removal must be assessed on the actual coating and after the intended storage period.
Printing & finishing
Printed instructions, clear windows, shaped pull tabs and roll or sheet converting can be planned together. The adhesive map must be supplied separately from the print design.
What to include in your brief
Show the label outline, adhesive zones, pull-tab area, pack surface, quantity and opening method. Specify whether the seal must reseal and whether residue or fiber lifting is acceptable.

Common questions

Does partial adhesive guarantee residue-free removal?

No. It describes where adhesive is applied, not the removal performance. Residue depends on the adhesive, surface, storage and removal conditions.

Can a seal be both clean-release and tamper-evident?

The two requirements can conflict. Describe the opening experience and evidence required so a suitable construction can be assessed and tested.
